I was at my desk and it was a day before my birthday.
I was sad when the rū whenua struck.
Going to get no presents, but I know I am going to remember that day.
It was so big that I couldn’t hop off my chair; I had to hold on to my desk. It was hard.
When it stopped we got our shoes on then lined up and went on to the courts.
I waited for our mum and dad. I felt as safe as a baby in my Mum’s arms.
